LANGUAGES OF PAKISTAN :
•List of languages.The 2022 edition of Ethnologue lists 77 established languages in Pakistan. Of these, 68 are indigenous and 9 are non-indigenous. There are many languages spoken in Pakistan ,Some of them are as follows
•Official : Urdu, English.
•National : Urdu.
•Regional : Punjabi, Sindh, Saraiki, Pashto, Balochi Balti, Hindko, Brahui, Dhatki Gujarai, Hazaragi, Kashmiri, Khowar, Kohistani, Kyrgyz,Marwari, Pahari pothwari, Parkari koli, Trukmen, Uzbek Wakhi .
Urdu:
•Urdu us Lingua Franca in Pakistan.
•Official language of Pakistan.
•Father of Urdu: Maulvi Abdul Haq.
•Urdu means an army camp in Turkish.
•In the beginning it was called Hindavi after developed and now only urdu.
•Used in education, media and government.
•The representative poets are Amir khusro (in Hindvi phase), Ghulam Hamdani Mushafi, Galib ,Zauq etc.
•After the death of Iqbal, a progressive movement began in Urdu literature. Rationalism dominated this age. Munshi Prem Chand, Ghulam Abbas and others were the representative writers of this era.
PASHTO :
•Pashto is the language of KPK & north •Balochistan.
•Vital role in regional culture.
•The people who speak this language are called Pashun or Pakhtun.
•Pashto began 5000 year ago in the Bacteria/Bakhtar (Afghanistan ).
•Formerly this language was called Bakhto and Pakhto.
•The 1st pashto book written in 8th century “Patta khazana” (Grand treasure).
•The representative poets of Pashto: First poets are Amir karoro, Saifullah develop Pashto Alphabet, Rahman Baba and Khushal khan khattak is the great poet of pashto.
Balochi:
•Spoken by Baloch communities, primarily in Balochistan province.
•Reflects Baloch heritage and identity.
•Father of the language are Sayad Zahoor Shah Hashemi.
•There are two dialects of Balcohi: Sulaimani & Makrani.
•Mast Tawakuli is the famous poet of Balochi.
•The Balochi alphabet consists of 32 letters.
Panjabi:
•One of the oldest and richest cultures of the world.
•Spoken in Punjab province.
•Significance in local literature and arts.
•The name of Hazrat Baba Fareed Ganj Shahkar is prominent. Some other famous poets of Punjabi are Shah Hussain,(Madho lal Hussain) Sultan buhu Shah and khawaja Fareed.
Sindhi :
•Mainly spoken in Sindh province.
•Rich cultural and historical roots.
•Sindhi was the first language in which the Holy Quran was translated by Akhund Azizullah.
•The Sindhi poets are Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (Sachal Sarmast) ,Shah Latif’s (Shah Jo Risalo’) ,Sachal Sarmast a mystic.
•Makhdoom Muhammad Hashim wrote 150 books in Persian and Sindhi. The subject of his writings was correct interpretation of Islamic Faith. Some of his books are still taught in Jamiat-ul-Azhar, Egypt as textbooks.•
Mirza Qaleech Beg wrote more than 400 books.
Sariki :
•Mainly spoken in southern Punjab and parts of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
•Distinct linguistic and cultural characteristics.
•Saraiki has a 43-letter alphabet including.
•The poet of saraiki language are Ashu Lal Faqir’, ‘ Rifat Abbas’ and ‘Shakir Shujabadi’.
English:
•English is a West Germanic language
•Usage in education, business, and government affairs.
•Four types of English language British English, American English, Canadian English, and even South African English.
•English is the national language of England.
